a life "complete"...at 4

"When I meet Cinderella, my life will be complete," said K on the bus on the way to our
"character dinner" in Disney World. Then she gave us all a stern furrowed brow stare and admonished, "Don't embarrass me in front of Cinderella!" We solemnly agreed not to embarrass her.

She dressed up in her Cinderella costume, requested that her hair be fashioned into a bun before she put on her tiara, and we headed into the dining room. Our table was first visited by the Prince who was dashing but looked plastic, and followed by Perla and Suzy, the giant mice (one of whom, while at the table behind us, accidentally flipped a plate crashing to the floor with her huge paw and sent shards of ceramic dinnerware flying everywhere). Then K sat bolt upright in her seat and let out a squeal. Cinderella was sighted, "She'scomingshe'scomingshe'scoming!"K chanted quietly. The moment had arrived. I looked at my daughter, eyes super sparkly, grin so big I think she created a new dimple, I wouldn't have been surprised if she started to float out of her seat . Cinderella was sweet and friendly, gave K a hug, asked her if she too had to be home by midnight, signed her very swirly autograph into K's book and posed for pictures. A collective sigh escaped the adults at the table, having successfully behaved in a nonembarassing manner, and K beamed for hours afterward.
